From 2001 to March 2010, Chris served variously as Vice Chairman-Asia, Chief Executive Officer-Asia and Managing Director-China of APCO Worldwide. In that capacity, he advised clients on government relations, public affairs and corporate communication in China and the broader Asia Pacific region.
In 1996-2001, Chris was the Managing Director and Senior Country Officer of The Chase Manhattan Bank in Beijing. His experience was in corporate lending, project finance, commercial banking, correspondent banking, trade finance and general management. He participated in four transformational mergers over a ten year period.
From 1991 to 1996, he lived in Taipei, where he managedChase and itspredecessor institutions’ branch. He also served asChairman of theAmerican Chamber of Commerce in Taiwan in 1995 and1996.
Chris received his undergraduate degree from Yale University and then taught for two years atthe ChineseUniversity of Hong Kong. He subsequently received adoctorate in EastAsian Studies at Princeton University.
Christian Murck is currently Interim Executive Director of the Yale-China Association, a foundation engaged in educational, medical and cultural exchange programs between the U.S and China. He divides his time between New York and New Haven, CT. Former President - The American Chamber of Commerce in the People’s Republic of China (AmCham China)
From 2010-13, Chris was President, American Chamber of Commerce in China, leading a staff of approximately fifty people in a chamber known for its policy and advocacy work and for innovative public-private partnerships in aviation, clean energy, healthcare, agriculture and food, work safety, and export compliance. Chris was nominated in 2003 to the Board of Directors of Bank of Shanghai by the International Finance Corporation, a member of the World Bank group, from which he resigned in 2008 to become independent director of J.P. Morgan Chase (China) Co. Ltd. In January, 2014 he completed six years on that board.
